Restorative Dentistry in Wayne NJ

Restorative dentistry is the art and science of replacing or repairing missing or damaged teeth. Dental restoration improves oral health, function, and appearance. While cosmetic dentistry focuses on the appearance of your smile, restorative dentistry’s primary concern is health and function. However, the two often overlap.

Restorative dentistry can help if you have any of the following problems:

  • Cavities or tooth decay
  • Missing teeth
  • Broken or cracked teeth

Dental Fillings

Fillings are the most common and simplest form of dental restoration. A filling is used to repair a tooth that is chipped, cracked, or has a cavity or decay. The filling of composite resin fills in the hole in the tooth made by the decay or cavity. Dental fillings are performed in our office during one visit.

Dental Implants

A dental implant replaces the entire missing tooth, including the root. Dental implants are considered the only permanent, fixed solution if you are missing one or more teeth. An implant in the jawbone fuses with the surrounding bone, becoming part of the jaw, and a dental crown or restoration is attached to replace the visible portion of the missing tooth. The process takes several months but restores full function and closely resembles your natural teeth.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is an excellent alternative if you are missing one or a few teeth and do not want or cannot have invasive surgery. The bridge includes a replacement tooth supported on either side by artificial teeth resembling crowns that fit over healthy teeth on either side of the missing teeth.

Dental Crowns

If a tooth is severely decayed or damaged and cannot be repaired with an inlay or onlay, we may restore and protect it with a dental crown. The crown is placed over the damaged tooth, fitting snugly and following the contours of the tooth. Crowns may also be placed over a root canal to prevent contamination or on a dental implant to replace a missing tooth.

Non-Surgical Root Canal

Patients suffering from toothache or jaw pain often have to undergo a non-surgical root canal to have the pulp removed and the roots’ canals cleaned and disinfected to remove any infection and prevent reinfection. A non-surgical root canal can often save a tooth that would otherwise have to be extracted.

Dentures

Dentures provide an affordable and removable option for individuals who have lost their teeth and wish to avoid invasive surgery for dental implants. JSC Dentistry uses advanced technology, including intraoral scanners and 3D imaging, to custom design dentures with precision fit and exceptional comfort.
